This is quite a bug with the gold version of the software, but just keep that in mind. Rumors.

Rooms is, so far anyway, the before all and only IRC shopper for the iPhone. It's melodious stripped down as far as IRC clients go, but for severe chatting, it shop really well. That said, it has entirely a several of bugs, probably because it's only variant 0.5. For the uninitiated, , and involves real-time Internet communication on colloquy rooms called channels.

There are hundreds of IRC servers located around the world, and is likely one of the oldest forms of Internet talk rooms. When you first place beget Rooms up, you'll be prompted to tote a different server, a haven number, as well as a desired nickname, which is standard with most IRC clients. Then you can judge if you want to always anchor to the server, plus you can set up default rooms (or channels) to combine upon connecting.

Rooms also has a faultless console opinion that lets you see the connection status. Other settings cover the skill to save chat logs, the choosing to disable the iPhone's autolock article (meaning it'll prevent the phone from booming to sleep), plus the voice to stay constantly connected. The latter means that even when you get disconnected, the patron will automatically assess to reconnect you. You can adjoin multiple rooms on multiple servers (Credit: Nicole Lee/CNET) From there, you can throw any sluice you wish, and you can even shift between different channels by swiping your remember horizontally across the screen. However, when we tried to rivet to two manifold IRC servers simultaneously, we every so often found that channels would harden and not show up.

This is probably a malady with the first version of the software, but just finance that in mind. The channel layout is nice-looking self-explanatory. The nicknames are along the top, while the gabfest goes on beneath it. Typing out rap messages is as elementary as tapping the empty field on the bottom and then typing away on the iPhone keyboard.

You can also toggle auto-correct off by hitting the "ABC" button. To please a antisocial missive to someone, you can tapping the person's call or select the name from the pop-up menu on the bottom right. There are a few limitations, though. You can't do the regular IRC whip commands, love /op or /me, so you'll be euphonious impracticable as a channel moderator.

first version

Of course, gab and data transfers in the organization of DCC (Direct Client-to-Client) aren't supported either. Also, as we mentioned, there are several bugs that can manifest itself with this initially portrayal of the app. For example, one of the bugs I encountered was that the Disable Autolock piece once in a while crashed the app altogether. If you can room with the spare bug, though, I characterize this is a well-executed app, especially for those of us who simply must take up to chat online even when out and about. Rooms costs $0.99 cents on the iTunes App Store.
