The patents protection LG's refrigerator inventions for dampen dispensing, subsistence storage and obturator technologies. Refrigerators.

SAN FRANCISCO (Thomson Financial) - LG Electronics Inc.'s LG Electronics USA Inc. Thursday charged Whirlpool Corp. with infringing three patents owned by LG in reference to refrigerator technology. The ensemble charges Whirlpool with "wilful and calculated infringement," demands a jury trial, and seeks trebled damages, LG said.



The patents shield LG's refrigerator inventions for ditch-water dispensing, eats storage and obturator technologies. Eleven models of refrigerator-freezers sold under the Whirlpool, Maytag, Amana, KitchenAir and Jenn-Air brands are named in the suit, the firm said. The lawsuit was filed in the U.S. District Court for the District of Delaware. Shares of Benton Harbor, Mich.-based Whirlpool survive traded $7.36 down, or almost 9%, at $74.84.
