Couples smooch in Times Square in New York on Saturday on the 65th anniversary of VJ Day. NEW YORK -- Hundreds of couples donned boatman hats and nurse's caps and smooched in Times Square on Saturday to lionize the 65th anniversary of the end of World War II. The couples were re-enacting the well-known Life arsenal positive of a nourish being passionately kissed by a yachtsman at the end of the war. A 26-foot sculpture replicating the unusual photo was also erected for the celebration.
